Please take a moment to read Lily's story.  If it touches your heart, please help us find her forever happiness.

This poor little girl was found on the side of the road in Water Valley, Mississippi by an angel that was sent to her named Anna.  She was in sad shape... she was emaciated, had a puncture wound to her eye, and she had patches of hair missing.  Anna took her to her vet, and a skin scrape determined she did not have mange.  Anna feared her local shelter would euthanize her, so she took her home and introduced her to her two labs, and Lily was happy as a clam.  Anna named her Lily because she sees the beauty within, waiting to be coaxed out with a little TLC.

In the words of Anna:

Lily has beautiful markings, but she is blind in one eye from what my vet said is a puncture wound.  She is also missing several teeth and has a severe underbite. These problems at first made me think she was going to be aggressive once she got her energy back, but she still remains very sweet. It would take someone looking for a special needs dog to adopt her- she's not one you'd go adopt on looks alone.

She has shown no signs of aggression. She is not food aggressive or dog aggressive, and she likes children. She's very submissive like she's been abused, but she loves attention. She even loves to come in the house and get on the couch, although I can't allow this yet til I give her a bath. I tried to give her a bath Sunday but she was very afraid of the water so I decided that was not top priority right now.

I can not keep her. I am currently in nursing school and have enough trouble caring for my two labs (they live with my boyfriend. I do not.)  But this dog really deserves a good, forever loving home.

UPDATE:  April 29, 2008
Lily is honestly the sweetest, happiest dog I've ever seen. Her
hair is coming back in and she is putting on weight quickly.
She has had a bath and has been treated for fleas and ticks. I have been  giving her some amoxicillin for some green drainage that was coming from her blind eye. I really think it needs to be removed but I am going to have to save some money before I can do anything about that. She needs to be spayed also. I plan on taking her for shots next week.

She really enjoys coming inside and lying belly up with her legs in the air on my couch.  She loves to have her belly rubbed and ears scratched. Lily would be the perfect dog for an older person who needed an inside dog  to sit and love on all day. She does need to be taught to walk on a leash and that baths aren't all that bad. She hated the water but after some reassurance, she was ok. I would really love to keep her as she seems to have really bonded with me and my two labs but I just don't have the time to give her right now. She just would really benefit from having a lot of attention and love. Lily has this look in her eye that she knows she's in a good place and really truely tries to tell me how grateful she is. I would love to find a good home for her.

Lily needs a rescue or forever home that has a place in their heart for this spacial girl.
